Official 2019 Nissan Altima unveiling at NYIAS 2018

My, how time flies. It feels like only yesterday that the redesigned 2013 Nissan Altima arrived here at Glendale Nissan, but despite some facelifts and refreshes since then, the flagship compact car is starting to get long in the tooth. Which is why we’re particularly intrigued by the teaser trailer for the 2018 New York International Auto Show. It seems that the official unveiling of a sixth-generation 2019 Nissan Altima will come to us in March, when the 2018 NYIAS show happens. We don’t know much, but we have some speculation.

What will be new for the 2019 Nissan Altima?

Everything here is speculation, as Nissan has only officially offered this much:

A 22-second clip showing the New York skyline? It’s not much. There are a few rumors out there, however, which we think hold some water. First, some spy shots have been seen that indicate the 2019 Nissan Altima will grow in size, while also adopting some of the higher-end design cues we already see in the Nissan Maxima. We wouldn’t be surprised to find the vehicle gain standard LED headlights, which are currently an option in higher trims. The V-Motion grille, which is becoming a signature style in the Nissan lineup, is all-but guaranteed for the redesign.

A common thread in redesigns are an increased focus on larger infotainment systems, particularly featuring standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Nissan has been working on integrating Amazon Alexa into its system as well, so this voice recognition technology could become available.

Driver assistance features are also an important addition, particularly at base trims where they’ve previously been uncommon. As an available feature, we’d be a bit shocked not to see the Pro-Pilot Assist offered in the 2019 Nissan Altima. Pro-Pilot, of course, is the Nissan single-lane self-driving system that was launched on select 2018 models.
