How Powerful is the 2020 Nissan Altima? 

One of the first Nissan models to arrive for the 2020 model year, plenty of drivers have been waiting for the exciting new Nissan Altima. With many new features and upgrades for the new year, the Altima is better than ever. When it comes to the new Altima, performance is a big component. So, how powerful is the 2020 Nissan Altima?

When looking at the standard Altima models, the S, SR, SV, SL and Platinum, each model comes equipped with a 2.5-liter direct-injection gasoline DOHC, 16-valve, 4-cylinder engine. This engine is able to generate 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. 

If a driver wanted to equip their new Altima with the available all-wheel drive system, the performance in each model takes a slight hit. While equipped with the same engine, 2020 Altima models with all-wheel drive see 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque.

2.0-Liter 4-Cylinder Turbo Engine 

However, when upgrading to the special SR VC-Turbo and Platinum VC-Turbo Altima trims, the new sedan gets an impressive boost in performance. In fact, these models come equipped with a 2.0-liter variable compression turbo, DOHC 16-valve, 4-cylinder engine. This engine is rated at producing a whopping 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.
