Being in the Midwest, we have to go through quite a few months of a cold winter season. However, now with spring finally here, the sun is starting to shine a bit brighter and the snow continues to melt. Spring is one of the most popular times for people to get outside and enjoy the city. Because of this, we wanted to fill you in on some of the exciting upcoming spring 2018 festivals near Chicago, IL, coming soon.
One of a Kind Show + Sale
Returning on the last weekend in April is the 3rd annual One of a Kind Show + Sale in Chicago. While the show happens twice per year, once in spring and once in winter, the event hosts more than 300 artists and designers from across North America showcasing their art. Attendees can also purchase crafts and gifts.
Chicago Kids and Kites Festival
Celebrating 20 years now, the popular Chicago Kids and Kites Festival returns to Cricket Hill in Lincoln Park for its annual celebration on Saturday, May 5, from 10am – 4pm. The event is free for everyone, as the city will provide free kites to children to build, decorate and customize to their liking. Of course, people can bring their own kites to the event. In fact, the Windjammers Kite Team will be making an appearance and showing off some impressive moves such as synchronized kite flying and more.

Chicago Beer Classic
Also taking place on Saturday, May 5, is the popular Chicago Beer Classic. This festival is held at the Chicago Bears’ very own Soldier Field. People will be able to try beers from 69 different breweries, including more than 30 local breweries. People will even get to walk through the same tunnel the players walk through on game day, as well as be treated to eat and participate in various activities.
