Official 2019 Nissan Altima unveiling at NYIAS 2018
My, how time flies. It feels like only yesterday that the redesigned 2013 Nissan Altima arrived here at Glendale Nissan, but despite some facelifts and refreshes since then, the flagship compact car is starting to get long in the tooth. Which is why we’re particularly intrigued by the teaser trailer for the 2018 New York International Auto Show. It seems that the official unveiling of a sixth-generation 2019 Nissan Altima will come to us in March, when the 2018 NYIAS show happens. We don’t know much, but we have some speculation. (more…)

Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation AutoGravity App
There are fun aspects to buying a new car, like going on a test drive and learning about new features, and then there are not-so-fun aspects to shopping. One of them? Having to haggle with salespeople who are well-versed in the process. Even if you’re no slouch yourself, it can be time-consuming to negotiate and the back-and-forth likely doesn’t feel as if it’s worth it. This is where the new Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation comes in with its new partnership with the AutoGravity App. (more…)

ProPILOT Park Ryokan Twitter contest
Self-driving cars are expected. Self-driving slippers? Maybe not so much. It’s more for fun than for any practical purpose, but Nissan has put its self-driving technology into slippers, tables and even floor cushions to show the usefulness of the technology. Basically, some of the furniture and the slippers have designated spots where they belong and can return when not in use. You’ll see what we’re talking about in this video. (more…)

Nissan Solar Energy for the House
You might be surprised to find that solar technology began development as early as the 1860s. That’s not to say that the technology was ready for use, but still. That’s more than a century of development. By now, you’d think every house would have a row of solar panels on the rooftop. It’s 2018, and this still isn’t the case. Perhaps if they were more widely available and affordable, it could happen soon. Which is why we’re excited that Nissan is throwing its technological hat into the ring to create Nissan Energy Solar, which will be a new division of the company that sells solar panels and energy storage packs for the house. The Nissan Frontier will finally head into a new generation

Third-generation Nissan Frontier announced
It used to be that vehicles would go years and years between new generations and refreshes, simply because it’s an expensive undertaking for an automaker. These days, we expect to see a refresh after two or three years, and a complete redesign after five or six. Which is what makes the Nissan Frontier so odd. The current model is in its second generation, which started in 2005. That’s right, 12 years ago. Other markets, where the model is known as the Navara, saw an update in 2014. Finally, a third-generation Nissan Frontier should be heading to the U.S. (more…)

Nissan Serena and Nissan X-Trail ProPilot feature
“German-engineering” is a popular phrase, but for a long time it’s been Japanese engineers that take the reins when it comes to offering all the latest and most impressive new features. The future of mobility seems to hinge on electric vehicle and autonomous driving, and Nissan is already making a go at it by offering not one, but two vehicles for sale with semi-autonomous driving. Unfortunately, neither model is offered to the U.S. market. Both the Nissan Serena and Nissan X-Trail now have ProPilot. (more…)
Automatic braking will be a new standard for Nissan in 2018

Which 2018 Nissan models will have automatic emergency braking?
Driver distraction remains at an all-time high, and is the primary culprit behind devastating accidents. In a busy world, it’s not as easy as it used to be to stay focused while rolling along at high speeds in a two-ton machine. Which is a scary thought for most of us when we consider what other drivers might be doing behind the wheel. One feature that combats our tendency toward inattentiveness is automatic emergency braking, which provides audible and visual alerts when a frontal collision seems likely. If a driver doesn’t press the brakes, your car will do it for you, preventing a collision or mitigating damage. For 2018, this feature will be standard for many 2018 Nissan models. But which ones?
