St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago is a huge event with parades, pub crawls and bright green everywhere. This is a holiday you don’t want to miss. To get a hint of what’s going on in Chicago for St. Patrick’s Day, keep reading.

Chicago River dyeing 

On Saturday, March 14th, the Chicago River will be dyed emerald green. This has been a beloved tradition for over half a century. Thousands of people line the bridges and riverwalk to catch a glimpse of the brightly colored river. The color only lasts five hours. 

Chicago St. Patrick’s Day parade 

The 65th Annual St. Patrick’s Day parade will start between Balbo Drive and Monroe Drive. This is one of the largest parades in the country and lasts for over three hours. 

Wendella’s St. Patrick’s Day cruise 

If you are looking for a more intimate look at the river while it’s being dyed, check out the Wendella’s St. Patrick’s Day Cruise. This cruise starts from 9am until 11am which includes a full-service bar with green beer. There is also a kid-friendly cruise that goes from 9am until 10:15am.  

Siamsa Na Ngael: Celtic Celebration 

On March 11th, there will be there annual Siamsa na nGael celebration which will feature Celtic song, dance and story-telling.
