What is Habitat for Humanity?

Since 1976, Habitat for Humanity has been driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live. The organization started as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. Since then, Habitat for Humanity has spread to all 50 states in the United States and to more than 70 countries.

How Nissan has helped contribute

The partnership started in 2005 and has extended to different facets of the organization. Some ways Nissan has helped include sponsoring the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project for 12 years, participating in the Home is the Key campaign in 2018 and 2019 and has helped assist with disaster recovery efforts by donating trucks. Throughout the partnership, Nissan has had more than 11,000 employees participate in team builds and has donated more than 150 Nissan vehicles to the local organizations. The total amount of contributions amount to over $18 million in donations.

Help during the pandemic

The novel coronavirus has magnified the need for affordable housing. To help during this time, Nissan has donated 59 Nissan Frontier trucks and NV Cargo vans to local Habitat organizations. These donations equate to $800,000 in contributions this year.
