Nissan launches Twitch and Command Your Craft experiences

It’s official! Star Wars: The Last Jedi is finally hitting theaters, and we know there are plenty of you who can’t get enough. We don’t blame you. To help drive excitement further, Nissan has launched a few new interactive experiences for the film, including a live-stream of two popular broadcasters on Twitch.

Nissan Leaf Dark vs Light Road Battle

Pending the actual development of production-ready flying vehicles, the 2018 Nissan Leaf is just about as futuristic of a vehicle as any you can reasonably purchase. For this reason, Nissan has created a 90-minute live-stream experience that will feature two Twitch broadcasters driving a Nissan leaf through a real course. Those watching on Twitch can use the chat and help the team they root for, or throw extra challenges at the opponent they wish to see fail. It isn’t clear how this challenge will go down, exactly, but tune in today (Dec. 14) at 6 p.m. EST to participate.

You likely saw the Nissan Star Wars-inspired vehicles from the LA Auto Show. Well, now you can virtually control them through the Command Your Craft experience. It’s not quite a game, but more of a virtual showroom in which you use “force-like” gesture to summon, raise and rotate either the 2018 Nissan Rogue that’s modeled after Poe Dameron’s X-wing with BB-8 or the 2018 Nissan Maxima, which is modeled after Kilo Ren’s TIE Silencer.

Though it’s a simple tool to play with, the Command Your Craft experience is unique in that it uses Google’s TensorFlow to recognize hand gestures. You’ll recall that Nissan is fond of apps and websites that use your camera to get you psyched about all your favorite things, as the Die Hard Fan app has been giving football fanatics virtual face paint since 2015.
