Nissan’s orange color option

We always highly anticipate which color options Nissan will offer on its models but we hardly ever see the behind-the-scenes action. Nissan has given us a look beyond the veil. Keep reading to learn more about the orange exterior color option.

Historical ties

Some of Nissan’s most iconic vehicles have sported orange as their showcase color. Through the past 50 years, some of the best-selling vehicles have had tones of orange from the 1970 Datsun 240Z to the current 2021 Rogue.

Into the mind of an “orange” person

Admittedly, there isn’t a high volume of Nissan vehicles with an orange-colored exterior. This color is for a very specific customer who is often bold, secure and confident. Much of the inspiration comes from locations in sunny Southern California, which can be largely credited to the color named Sunset Drift, which can be found on the current models of Altima, Maxima, Murano and LEAF vehicles.

Speaking to a vision of “sport”

Sports cars are designed to be noticed. To help set Nissan apart and attract more customers to the brand, the Nissan team created show-stopping orange hues. They looked back on the original Z for inspiration and other vehicles that have recently debuted in orange. This process leads to the ChromaFlair which appears in different colors depending on the light source and angle. Some vehicles sporting this look include the Kicks, Sentra and Versa.
